Stark Parks

Stark County Park District's mission is " to acquire, preserve and develop natural areas accessible to all residents of Stark County for purposes of passive recreation, conservation, education and outdoor nature appreciation. " This park district, which works in the Canton, Ohio area, manages the following park areas, as well as a county-wide trail and greenway network that includes a nearly-complete Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Sippo Lake Park
Sippo Lake Park is a great place to hike and explore nature in Stark County. With a wonderful new "Exploration Gateway", clubhouse, marina, fishing pier and boat rentals, park visitors can learn and explore nature and freshwater ecology first hand here.

Petros Lake Park
With a wildflower trail and a Jogging/walking track around the lake, Petros Lake Park is a fine place to exercise and get in touch with the natural world. A stocked fishing lake, volleyball court, and picnic areas round out the amenities offered here by Stark Parks.

Faircrest Park
This small park includes a nature trail, picnic shelters, a volleyball court, and a children's playground.

Lock 4 Park
Along with a historical lock of the Ohio and Erie Canal, this park allows access to the regional Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail.

Walborn and Deer Creek Reservoirs
Wonderful areas for fishing and boating, these reservoirs encompass over 2700 acres. Visitors can rent boats, hike, fish, and enjoy gorgeous views across the reservoirs.

David Fichtner Outdoor Education Center
This small park in Hartville includes a great nature center, with a pond, wetlands, and a hiking trail.

Whitacre Greer Park
This 2,000-acre park is currently an equestrian -only park operated by the Stark Parks under a lease agreement with the current owners.
