Ohio Parks

NeoNaturalist.com has started to list basic information about some of the County Park Districts around Ohio. We hope to provide more detailed descriptions in the future, but in the meantime, maybe these summaries will help you choose a wonderful Ohio park to enjoy.

Cleveland Metroparks, the oldest Park District in Ohio, located in and around Cuyahoga County Ohio.

Columbus and Franklin County Metroparks, the largest landowner among Ohio's park districts, with over 22,000 acres of park land around Columbus Ohio.

Five Rivers MetroParks provide access to wonderful natural park lands around Montgomery County and Dayton Ohio.

Geauga Park District manages parks and nature preserves representing the best that Geauga County Ohio has to offer. From a glacial lake with resident bald eagles, to native brook trout streams and tamarack bogs, Geauga Park District does a great job of providing access to the natural assets of Geauga County, Ohio.

Hamilton County Park District, which manages parks in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, includes scenic parks along the Ohio River, as well as a host of other natural areas to enjoy.

Lake Metroparks is a very active park district in northeast Ohio with over 7500 acres of parks along the Grand River, Chagrin River, and other special places in Lake County Ohio.

Lorain Metroparks has a large network of parks throughout Lorain County Ohio, including large restored wetlands, beautiful forested land, historical features, and much more.

Medina County Park District has parks across this rapidly developing northeast ohio county. 3,700 acres of park land is under their fine management. Get out and get fit on the 18 miles of trails in Medina County District's parks.

Portage Park District, a fledgeling park district in Northeast Ohio that has efficiently been able to protect hundreds of acres of park land and miles of bike trails with very limited funding.

Stark Parks, with 6,500 acres of parkland around Canton, Ohio, Stark Parks are a great part of Northeast Ohio's growing network of special places open to the public.

Metro Parks, Serving Summit County, the second oldest park district in Ohio, and one of the very best. With thousands of acres of parks around the Akron, Ohio area, Metro Parks, Serving Summit County has something for everyone.

Metroparks of the Toledo Area preserves and protects for public enjoyment a broad range of natural and cultural resources. From the historical Miami and Erie Canal corridor, to the Oak Openings, Toledo and Lucas County has wonderful parks to explore.
